On November 18, 2011 Mid-Day reported that the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police solved a six-year-old murder case while going through a file of unsolved cases and seeking information from a local informer about a missing person. The informer tipped them off about the missing man's wife having an extra-marital affair with another man for the past six years, which led to the case being cracked. Syed Ziaulla (38) was running an almirah manufacturing unit and sometime in 2004 he befriended Pyare Jan, who was a plastic goods vendor. During the course of their friendship, Pyare Jan invited Ziaulla to his home on several occasions and introduced him to Reshma, his wife.

On November 17, 2011 Ahmedabad Mirror reported that a Congress MLA’s son and three others were arrested for threatening a hotel owner with a revolver on Tuesday night at Kalupur. Jitendra Chavda, son of Congress MLA from Dholka Kanjibhai Talpada (Chavda), demanded Rs 20,000 at gunpoint. Metropolitan Magistrate V J Kalotra sent the accused to a day’s remand.

On November 16, 2011 Times of India reported that a 35-year-old builder was arrested on Tuesday for threatening a man with his licensed pistol in MGR Nagar on Monday night. Police recovered from the accused, Rajesh Kannan (35) of Om Sakthi Nagar in Valasaravakkam, a 0.25 mm calibre Belgium-made pistol, for which he had a licence, and 20 bullets. He was booked under Sections 323 (assaulting with hands), 294 (b) (abusing) 506 (II) (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 27 of the Arms Act. He was remanded in the Puzhal prison after being produced before a magistrate’s court in Saidapet.

On November 15, 2011 Mid-Day reported that "Please take me home," pleaded the 14-year-old girl, weeping uncontrollably, when Mumbai police officers rescued her from a Goa hotel. The Kandivli girl had been rescued a month after she was kidnapped, and then raped repeatedly by her 24-year-old neighbour. Crime Branch officers also arrested the girl's two kidnappers and brought them to the city last afternoon. They revealed that the rapist, identified as Manish Khanulkar, had also stolen a large amount of cash from the girl, and used it to check into various hotels over a period of 30 days, on the way to Goa from Mumbai. At each of the hotels, he raped her repeatedly.

On November 14, 2011 Times of India reported that a 35-year-old fraudster who allegedly duped several girls by marrying them has been rounded up by Kolkata police. On Sunday he was put behind the bars after receiving a complaint of intimidation. Soumen Chatterjee, the accused is a resident of Chetla in south Kolkata. Chatterjee hails from an affluent family and is a XII standard pass out. He is also fluent in four languages including Spanish and French. “He is capable of outsmarting people. With the help of his language skills he used to convince people,” said an investigating officer, who also confirmed that his parents were doctors. Couple of years ago his mother died. His father is attached with a government hospital.

On October 20, 2011 Hindustan Times reported that Bollywood producer and director Prakash Jha on Tuesday lodged a complaint against two New York-based film-makers, accusing them of threatening him and trying extort more than Rs two crore from him. The Amboli police has registered a case of extortion against the film-makers “Jha, in his complaint, said that the two film-makers ­ Pramod Bhanti and Devendra Singh ­ both New York based, demanded more than Rs2 crore from him. They also sent him threatening emails and made phone calls demanding the money,“ said R Kane, assistant police inspector, Amboli police station.

On October 20, 2011 Times of India reported that Ravindra Dhangekar, a corporator and MNS group leader in the Pune Municipal Corporation, was booked along with two builders and 12 others for allegedly attempting to grab land and threatening the owner. No arrest was reported till the report was filed. Dhangekar obtained an anticipatory bail from the district and sessions court on Wednesday fearing arrest. The MNC leader was booked following a complaint lodged by Manohar Khanderao Thakar, 79, with the Kothrud police station. According to the complaint, Dhangekar and Thakar had a dispute over the ownership of the property in Bhusari Colony, on Paud road. Thakar had deployed two security guards at the property.

On October 18, 2011 Ahmedabad Mirror reported that 12-year-old girl lodged a complaint of attempt to murder against her mother at Naranpura police station on Monday. According to police sources, Manju Chavda, who lives at Ambedkar ni chali in Nava Vadaj, allegedly poured kerosene on daughter Rinkal at their house around 9 am on Sunday. She set her ablaze and fled from the house. Neighbours rushed to the spot after Rinkal screamed for help and took her to Civil Hospital where she lodged the complaint. Rinkal has been admitted to the hospital with 40 percent second and third degree burns.
