According to the police, the arrested, identified as Sijumon (20) of Mariyanadu in Thiruvananthapuram, was just released from jail after serving a sentence in connection with a theft case.

On May 17, 2012 The Pioneer reported that a miscreant was nabbed while attempting to snatch a purse from a young woman in Bairagarh township on Tuesday night. The miscreant was nabbed by the locals when he tried to flee after being unsuccessful in the robbery bid. The police said that on Tuesday at around 10:30 pm, victim Neha Vaswani had gone for shopping. While on her way back home she was accosted by the miscreant Ajay Mishra (20) on a scooter made an unsuccessful attempt of snatching her bag near the Punjab National Bank branch of Bairagarh.
On May 14, 2012 Times of India reported that the Chennai police on Sunday said they had arrested a 26-year-old engineer from Periamet, for the murder of Maduravoyal pawnbroker B Gunaram. The arrest of A Ramajayam alias Appu was made almost a month after the murder on April 14, when CCTV cameras recorded images of the killer, moments before he slashed the pawnbroker’s throat and fled with more than half a kilo of jewellery.

On May 08, 2012 Mid-Day reported that the police claim to have cracked a burglary case yesterday and arrested one person for breaking into and stealing Rs 72,000 from the donation box at Mhatoba temple in Kothrud on Friday. The police solved the case with the help of footage captured between 1.30 pm and 3.30 pm on the day of the burglary by a CCTV camera installed on the temple premises and identified the suspect as Sunil Vitthal Bhilare ( 30), a resident of Jaybhavani Chawl in Kothrud, and arrested him.
