Karnal: Police nabbed one of eight inmates in Sonepat jailbreak case

On February 03, 2012 Hindustan Times reported that getting success in the Sonepat jailbreak case, the police on Thursday arrested one of the eight inmates, who had fled the jail by scaling a 20-foot high boundary wall on January 18. Superintendent of police KK Rao told Hindustan Times that Pramod was caught from Jakoli village near Rai in the afternoon. He is facing a trial in a murder case in a district court. The police have claimed that seven others would soon be arrested.

New Delhi: Battered baby case, three more held

On February 02, 2012 Times of India reported that police on Wednesday arrested the father of the 14-year-old girl who claimed to have been abused by him, forcing her to run away from home and land up in sex trade. Two others – a neighbour Pooja and her husband Sandeep Pandey – accused of pushing her into the trade, were also arrested. The teenager had, a day earlier, told the police of an ordeal of beatings and rape, which ended in her battering the two-year-old baby left with her by Raj Kumar, the last link in the chain of abuse.

Pune: Employer arrested for repeatedly raping a 10-yr-old

On February 01, 2012 Mid-Day reported that harassed and tortured, a 10-year-old rape victim was so incoherent in her narration of the horror she went through that the Nigadi police could make no headway in the investigation of the case. The police finally achieved a breakthrough when the alleged tormentor of the girl walked into the police station to lodge a missing complaint and aroused their suspicion.

Bhubaneswar: Duo arrested for raping minor, circulating obscene MMS

On January 30, 2012 Hindustan Times reported that Odisha Police on Monday arrested two persons hailing from Rajgangpur in Sundergarh district on the charge of raping a minor, filming and circulating obscene MMS (multimedia messaging services) showing her. Officials said that Md Arman (18) and Md Zaheer Ansari (26) alias Babal, the two accused, had lured the 15-year-old high school student to a house where they not only abused her but also captured obscene acts with her on camera which they later circulated in MMS format.

Mumbai: Authorities nab BPO employee for rape, cheating

On January 26, 2012 Times of India reported that the Bangur Nagar police arrested a BPO employee on Tuesday after his former girlfriend accused him of rape and cheating. Officials said the accused, M Contractor (30), also allegedly took Rs 5 lakh from the victim on the pretext of starting a business, but did not repay the amount. Contractor is a resident of Mira Road; the victim is nine years elder to him. The duo worked in the same BPO on Malad Link Road. The victim had separated from her husband and moved in with her parents in Goregaon (W). She has a five-year-old son and is yet to get a formal divorce.

Bhubaneswar: Trio arrested for kidnapping MBA girl with the motive of rape

On January 25, 2012 The Pioneer reported that two engineering students and a car driver arrested on Monday by the Commissionerate Police for kidnapping an MBA girl with a motive to rape her, were forwarded to the court and sent to judicial custody after their bail applications were rejected on Tuesday. Deputy Commissioner of Police Nitinjeet Singh, on the day gave details about the incident and the kidnappers. The police booked the trio under several sections of the IPC and CrPC and charges included kidnapping and attempt to rape.

Lucknow: Man held on rape, fraud charges on his wedding day

On January 25, 2012 Times of India reported that Aliganj police arrested a man who was about to get married on Tuesday at a gurudwara at Sohramau in Banthra area, on charges of rape and fraud. The man was identified as Amit Sandhu, a resident of Sector J, Aliganj police station area. According to reports, Amit was seeing Smriti (name changed), a resident of Sector 2, Vikasnagar, for over six years. Both had developed intimacy as Amit, according to the police, had promised to marry Smriti.

New Delhi: Man awarded life imprisonment for raping his daughter

On January 24, 2012 Times of India reported that a 43-year-old man has been sentenced to life imprisonment for raping his minor daughter for over three years with the court terming his offence as “too heinous” Additional sessions judge Anju Bajaj Chandna also imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 on convict Tek Bahadur against whom his teenaged daughter herself had lodged the FIR last March.

New Delhi: Police arrest Dwarka rape case accused

On January 24, 2012 Times of India reported that the accused in last week’s Dwarka rape case was arrested early on Monday morning when he tried to sneak into his Palam Vihar house to pick up clothes and money for a long stay away from home. Police said they were able to trap Anuj Saini, who had eluded them since January 18, after taking his family members into confidence. “They informed us when he called home to check on them. A plainclothes team was stationed outside his house based on the input. He tried to enter his house around 2am on Monday, and was nabbed,” said an officer.
