On February 21, 2012 Times of India reported that ‘Q’ branch officials on Monday arrested Manivasagam, a core committee member of naxalite outfit Radical Youth League in Thanjavur. A special team monitored his movements “for several months before nabbing him,” a senior ‘Q’ branch officer said. Questioning revealed that Manivasagam was a key state committee member of the naxalite outfit. When first arrested by the Dharmapuri police in 2002 for naxalite activities in the Uthangarai and Kalavi police limits, Manivasagam was a courier, police said. He appeared for the trial until 2008 and then went missing.

On February 20, 2012 Hindustan Times reported that the police on Sunday claimed to have arrested two alleged militants trained in Pakistan from Kashmir's northern town of Handwara. A police spokesman said they were tipped off about the presence of militants at Kulangam in Handwara area of Kupwara district.

On February 17, 2012 Hindustan Times reported that police have arrested a member of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) from a rented house at Lachit Nagar in Guwahati on Thursday. The youth, identified as Yumlembam Inao Singh, is the publicity secretary of KCP, an outfit based in Manipur. Police said that some incriminating documents and photographs were recovered from him. The militant was picked up in a joint operation carried out by the army intelligence, CRPF and Manipur and Guwahati police.

On February 13, 2012 Hindustan Times reported that the Jammu and Kashmir police claimed to have busted a militant module here with the arrest of its kingpin and recovery of arms and ammunition. Omar Zargar was arrested from the old city, locally known as downtown, a fortnight ago after investigations revealed that he was trying to revive militancy in the city, official sources said on Sunday.

On February 08, 2012 Hindustan Times reported that a Maoist couple turned themselves over before IG (Western Range) at the Midnapore police lines on Tuesday. The rebel duo has been identified as Chiranjit Mahato and his wife and a Maoist cadre Anima Mahato. The surrender came at a time the combined forces have voiced concerns over a likely resurgence of the rebels in their strongholds in the Jangalmahal terrain. The fears have come in the wake of a sharp spurt in Maoist activities lately. After turning themselves over, the rebel duo urged the other rebel cadres to shun the path of violence and return to the mainstream. The fresh surrenders have taken the number of surrendered rebels in the region to 25.

On February 03, 2012 Times of India reported that one more accused in the 2008 Bangalore serial blasts has been taken into custody. Saleem, 30, is a close associate of Tadiyandavide Nasir and stayed in Kannur, Kerala. Nasir is the prime accused in the nine blasts that killed a woman and injured many in July 2008. He is also the South Indian commander of the Indian Mujahideen.
