On August 01, 2011 Mid-Day reported that the Kandivli police yesterday arrested an accomplice of gangster Subhash Singh Thakur who is wanted for the murder of a Navi Mumbai-based builder. Thakur, a former Chhota Rajan aide suspected to have been operating from within the Nasik jail where he is lodged, had reportedly taken the contract for the killing. His aide, identified as Raju Chauhan alias Vijay Sawant (32), was nabbed at the KD Compound in Kandivli West. With the arrest, police hope to get an insight into the network of gangsters operating from behind bars.

On August 01, 2011 Ahmedabad Mirror reported that a murder case has been filed against former Jhalod BJP MLA Mahesh Bhuriya and his security guard in the killing of a robber. The incident took place last year in Jhalod, said the police on Sunday. Mathur Sangadiya, father of the deceased Raman, in his petition to High Court, said his son and two others were travelling in the MLA’s car, and they were shot at following dispute over money. High Court, thereafter, directed the police to register an FIR in the incident.

On July 26, 2011 The Pioneer reported that an issueless old couple gave shelter to a newly-wed couple considering that they would be helpful in their old age. But the newly-wed murdered the elderly woman and buried her body in the house and fled away. Before leaving the house, they did not forget to collect gold and silver ornaments of the woman. The police have nabbed the accused who has confessed to the crime and revealed the place of the house where they buried the body. In this connection, the police arrested the accused Shayam Vir alias Bablu and his wife Pinky Jadon from Mihona. They have been accused of killing elderly woman Rama Devi Bhadauria of Chaturvedi Nagar.

On July 25, 2011 Times of India reported that a day after Hulimavu police arrested Vinay Kumar for allegedly killing his wife Vanajakshi and burying her near Punganur in Andhra Pradesh, police combed the entire forest area near Punganur but couldn’t trace her body. “We are scanning each place the accused thinks he has buried the body. Now he says he can’t recall the exact location as it was after midnight when he buried his wife’s body,” said South East DCP P S Harsha. “Investigating officials have taken Vinay with them to Punganur.

On July 22, 2011 Hindustan Times reported that two youth were killed allegedly by their cousins over a family dispute on late Wednesday night. As per reports, Jasbir Singh, son of Prem Singh and Jasbir Singh, son of Gurdial Singh, both residents of Tajowal, were returning from a factory around 1.30am after duty on a motorcycle. When they were crossing Hookran village, assailants attacked them with sharp-edged weapons, killing them on the spot.

On July 20, 2011 Times of India reported that peenya police arrested three men, including two brothers, for allegedly killing their former colleague Chetan on July 11 and recovered cable wire and a car used in the crime. While HG Rasika alias Nitin, 23; his younger brother HG Rakesh alias Raki, 21 (both residents of Chennanayakanapalya and natives of Sakleshpur) and C Chandrashekhar alias Chandra, 22, of Sunkadakatte and a native of Kunigal are behind bars, police are searching for another accused Jitendra.

On July 13, 2011 Ahmedabad Mirror reported that in a major breakthrough Mumbai police have arrested two accused wanted in Ahmedabad serial blast case. Both, Amin Sheikh Ayub alias Raja, and Mohammed Mobin Abdul Shakoor alias Imran, who as per claims of police have been trained in the Indian Mujahideen (IM) organised training camps, were nabbed by the crime branch from Indore in Madhya Pradesh about two days ago. They were involved in stealing cars which were provided to the key accused for carrying out serial blasts in Ahmedabad and Surat in July 2008. Investigations have revealed that they also supplied explosives, detonators and logistic support to Afzal Usmani, one of the accused involved in the serial blasts, police said.

On July 11, 2011 Times of India reported that with the arrest of a retired Army officer on Sunday, the Tamil Nadu police have solved the murder of 13-year old K Dilson at the defence enclave last week. CB-CID officials on Sunday confirmed the arrest of 58-year-old Lieutenant Colonel Kandaswamy Ramraj. He was booked under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code. Ramaraj was an assistant engineer (small weapons) in the Army and maintained firearms. The CB-CID analysed mobile phone locations to find out who was in the quarters during the time of the shooting.

On July 07, 2011 The Pioneer reported that Ranchi police nabbed two Maoists including a minor and a founder member of CPI (Maoist) in Panchparganiya area of Bundu block of Ranchi district along with explosive boosters on Tuesday night. The two arrested, namely Heera Singh Munda (50) and Etwa Mahli (15), confessed during interrogation about possessing 310 hidden explosive boosters. A team of police raided the given location and recovered explosive boosters hidden in a natural bunker. Munda was a founder member of CPI (Maoist) in Panchparganiya area comprising Bundu, Tamar, Sonahatu, Rahe and Silli area along with two other Maoist ideologues Nitinda and Pramod da.

On July 06, 2011 The Pioneer reported that three Maoists allegedly involved in the killing of securitymen and many crimes were arrested from Jajpur Road and Keonjhar areas on Tuesday. “In a joint combing operation by Jajpur and Keonjhar police arrested the Maoists. The police also seized two guns from them. All the three arrested Maoists have been identified as Gora Hansada (24) of village Rangamatia, Shyamasundar Bakse (24) of village Rangamatia and Ramachandra Hemrum (22) of Chandipasi village.
