On February 02, 2012 Hindustan Times reported that in a suspected case of honour killing, a youth allegedly killed his elder sister and her boyfriend at Hambran village on the outskirts of Ludhiana city on Wednesday. The victims were identified as Navdeep Kaur Gill, 25, and Harpreet Singh Johal, 27, of Tharike village. The incident took place when the accused, Barjinder Singh, 23, found Johal with his sister in her room at 4am on Wednesday.

On January 30, 2012 Times of India reported that police on Monday arrested two people in Chitlapakkam for the murder of Pachaimuthu of Selaiyur on Friday. Sakthivel, Anbu and Mohan, who confessed to killing Pachaimuthu, a fish vendor, due to previous enmity were later sent to judicial custody.

On January 30, 2012 Times of India reported that a woman was allegedly murdered by her son in Asad Baba Nagar on Sunday. Tahera Begum, 52, was allegedly killed by her 32-year-old son, Aleem, in their rented house. According to Bahadurpura police, late on Saturday night, Aleem woke up his neighbours saying that his family was attacked by unidentified miscreants. Aleem and Tahera were rushed to OGH later at night, where Tahera succumbed to her injuries. However, based on a complaint lodged by Tahera’s daughter Haleema, police interrogated Aleem, who confessed to killing his own mother.

On January 30, 2012 DNA reported that a youth was arrested for killing his friend in Banganga area. The accused had killed him over a dispute while consuming liquor. Sethi, a resident of Kushwah Nagar, was found dead near a country liquor shop on January 22. His head had been crushed with a heavy stone. During investigation police came to know that he was last seen with his friend Bharat and Babloo and the trio had consumed liquor outside the country liquor shop.

On January 24, 2012 Times of India reported that the 17th fast track court (FTC) held Palani, 26, a staffer of Apollo Hospital on Bannerghatta Road, guilty of killing his colleague Jitin George, 27, a lab technician, on the night of May 29, 2009. Judge SK Vontigodi held Palani guilty, based on the deposition of some of his colleagues and security personnel of the hospital. The quantum of punishment will be announced on Tuesday.

On January 20, 2012 Ahmedabad Mirror reported that Odhav police have arrested autorickshaw driver Pravin Masurkar for killing his wife and daughter on Sunday. The accused, who was missing after murdering the mother-daughter duo, was arrested from Umrada in Udaipur. On January 20, 40-year-old Prachi Masurkar and her 17-year-old daughter Sonu were found dead in their house in Odhav. The police said they traced Pravin through his cellphone. During interrogation, Pravin said, “My wife was suffering from mental illness for the past four years. I had to spend a lot of money on her medicines. But they were of no use. Many a time, she would sleep for hours together. Also, I had to bear the educational expenses of our three children and was already under debt of Rs. 25,000. I was worried that if I told this to Prachi, her condition may worsen. So I strangulated her and our daughter.”

Kali Bai, wife of Mukesh, a native of Dhar , who was working at the farm of Pawan in Arjun Baroda village, was found dead on December 31 under mysterious circumstances.

On January 09, 2012 DNA reported that with arrest of dubious godman Bapji, the main accused, police unraveled the mystery behind the sensational Patwari abduction and murder case. The gruesome murder was an outcome of dispute between Patwari and main accused as the latter used to make calls to wife of the slain Patwari. Luv Das Bairagi, a Patwari posted at collector office, had gone missing on September 9 last year. He was last seen going on his bike around 8 pm from his residence in Suryadev Nagar in Annapurna area. A missing complaint was registered next day at Annapurna police station.

Auto driver R Mahesh (28) barged into the clinic of Dr T Sethulakshmi (55), also a civil surgeon at the ESI hospital in Tuticorin, late on Monday with his friends and hacked her, killing her on the spot.

On January 03, 2012 Times of India reported that the Kancheepuram police on Monday arrested three people, including a panchayat president, for killing a 19-year-old college student following a quarrel during New Year celebrations in Vippedu Colony, 80km from the city on Sunday. Police said an armed gang led by S Arul, (31), president of Vippedu panchayat, entered the house of K Santhakumar and hacked him to death with sharp weapons in front of his father D Krishnan (48) on Sunday night.
