On May 21, 2012 DNA reported that the Lonavla police have booked constable Vitthal Raut (39), who was an instructor at Khandala Women Police Training Centre for allegedly molesting a 21-year-old trainee woman constable. The incident took place on Saturday night. This is the second serious incident of its kind within a year. In April 2011, head constable Yuvraj Kamble (32) was arrested for raping a 25-year-old trainee woman constable. He later alleged in court that he was being framed by senior police officers who have been sexually harassing women constables at the training centre.

On May 16, 2012 Times of India reported that on the day when police sub-inspectors (PSIs) and deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) were passing out at the Karai police academy, a complaint of dowry harassment was being filed at Vastrapur police station against one of the fresh graduates. In the complaint, a police inspector’s daughter Bhavna Desai, accused her husband a police sub-inspector Hiren Desai and his family members of physical and mental harassment for dowry. M R Sharma, Vastrapur police inspector, said, “We have registered Bhavna’s complaint.”

The victim identified as Archana, 22 lodged a police complaint against her husband Mukesh Tomar, 25, a resident of Scheme 78. On April 26, 2012 Times of India reported that a mason, who strangled his wife at their house in Pattabiram on Tuesday night allegedly over her affair, surrendered at the police commissioner’s office on Wednesday morning. The woman had returned home on Tuesday morning after living separately since early this month. Police said Srinivasan of Thiruvalluvar Nagar in Pattabiram and Lakshmi, 39, who got married 20 years ago,have three children. The couple had frequent quarrels.

On April 25, 2012 Pune Mirror reported that three months after the death of Konkona Adhikari (25) and her eight-month-old son Aditya, Konkona's husband Anirban Adhikari (33), a senior multimedia developer with a private firm from in Hinjewadi, his brother, father, mother and sister-in-law have been charged under the Domestic Violence Act (DVA) for physical and mental harassment of the deceased for dowry. Konkona's mother Ratna Kalipadi Chakraborty (49) had filed a complaint in this regard.

On April 13, 2012 DNA reported that Mumbai police commissioner Arup Patnaik on Wednesday suspended police inspector Dilip Mangaonkar and constable Ashok Valekar of the Vinoba Bhave (VB) Nagar police station, Kurla (West), for allegedly outraging the modesty of probationary sub-inspector Trupti Borate, who is serving in the same police station. The VB Nagar police station also registered a case under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 509 (house trespass), 451(word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 34 (common intention) IPC, against the duo on Wednesday.
