On May 17, 2012 Times of India reported that Punjagutta police on Wednesday arrested Gandhi Hospital nephrologist Dr Ramesh Chadha and his assistants Ganesh and Pratap for their role in the kidney racket. Apart from being a consultant at Gandhi Hospital and two private hospitals, Ramesh also runs Indu Super Specialty Clinic in Karkhana, the Punjagutta police revealed.

On May 17, 2012 Times of India reported that police arrested a domestic help and recovered Rs. 35 lakh worth stolen jewellery from her possession on Wednesday. The Jubilee Hills police arrested T Varalaxmi alias Sridevi of Film Nagar in Jubilee Hills. On May 5, she had stolen Rs. 35 lakh worth gold jewellery from her employer L Swapnika Reddy?s house at Nandagiri Hills, Road No. 69, Jubilee Hills and left the place saying that she would go to her native place and return after a few days. After discovering the missing jewellery, the employer lodged a complaint with the Jubilee Hills police recently and on Wednesday, acting on a tip off, the crime team sleuths of Jubilee Hills police station nabbed her from Sri Lakhsmi Jewellers in Krishna Nagar while she was trying to dispose of the stolen booty.

On May 17, 2012 Times of India reported that a 20-year-old cashier with a private finance firm was arrested for allegedly stealing cash and gold worth Rs. 1.2 crore from his own firm. The accused, Prajwal Manjunath, used duplicate keys to open the company?s safe, police said. Prajwal is from Cholanayakanahalli in RT Nagar and a native of Gutti village in Moodigere, Chikmagalur.

On May 17, 2012 Pune Mirorr reported that the Kondhwa police on Wednesday arrested two members of a health club in Kondhwa for allegedly stealing a debit card from another member on Monday. The suspects, identified as Faraz Zafar Khan (29) of Bhavani Peth and Zahed Sayyed (25) of Kondhwa, were caught in the act on CCTV cameras installed in a petrol pump in Camp and a jewellery store in Wanowrie by Akbar Shaikh, to whom the card belonged. Shaikh then filed a complaint. Shaikh realised his card was missing after he received text messages from the bank, alerting him that his card had been used.

On May 17, 2012 Bangalore Mirror reported that Pappu and his partners-in-crime, Sachin Kumar and Kuldeep, were returning to their hotel room on Sunday morning after snatching nine chains when they ran out of luck. The trio panicked when they saw cops at Kodigehalli gate. They left their motorbikes and fled the scene. Two alert constables, Satish and Ramesh, attached to Kodigehalli police station smelt a rat when they noticed the boys fleeing. After chasing them for a kilometre, they nabbed the trio. During interrogation, the cops realised that they had netted criminals who have nearly 60 cases against them in Bangalore alone, apart from cases in other states.

On May 17, 2012 Ahmedabad Mirror reported that the police arrested two persons on Wednesday for raping a 12-year-old girl who was abducted a month ago and abandoned near her Juhapura residence on May 11 in a semi-conscious state. Shabbir Hussain alias Azim Sheikh, and Kasim Khan Pathan, both aged 20, were arrested on charges of raping the child and forcing her into flesh trade. Faiza Laludia, a resident of Juhapura, who had abducted the minor, was also nabbed on Wednesday.

On May 17, 2012 DNA reported that the Jaipur rural police on Wednesday arrested a man on the charges of strangling his paralytic wife to death and later burning her body to give the impression that she has committed suicide. The man, a resident of Chandwaji town, had killed his wife on May 10 but the incident came to light later. The police said the accused had killed his wife as the latter used to quarrel with him over his habit of consuming liquor.

On May 17, 2012 Mid-Day reported that Ulhasnagar Crime Branch officials swoop down on fraudsters after an alert citizen tips off Thane police commissioner; six nabbed, two on the run with the arrest of six persons, the Ulhasnagar Crime Branch officials have busted a major construction racket on the outskirts of Dombivli. The arrested persons have been identified as father- son duo of Mritunjay ( 48) and Vishal Singh ( 22) and real estate agents Sunil Gawde ( 45), Sunil Bodhare ( 35), Satyawan Kadam ( 51) and Ajay Kolte ( 42). Two of their accomplices, builder Amitkumar Singh and real estate agent Samir Virani, are at large. These arrests have brought over 40 buildings under the scanner.

On May 17, 2012 The Pioneer reported that a miscreant was nabbed while attempting to snatch a purse from a young woman in Bairagarh township on Tuesday night. The miscreant was nabbed by the locals when he tried to flee after being unsuccessful in the robbery bid. The police said that on Tuesday at around 10:30 pm, victim Neha Vaswani had gone for shopping. While on her way back home she was accosted by the miscreant Ajay Mishra (20) on a scooter made an unsuccessful attempt of snatching her bag near the Punjab National Bank branch of Bairagarh.
