Kashyap Brahmbhatt, the accused, was earlier caught by the state DG vigilance squad in January with Rs 44 lakh cash. On May 18, 2012 Times of India reported that the Amberpet police on Thursday arrested a chain snatcher involved in eight cases and recovered 23 tolas of gold worth Rs. Six lakh from his possession. The Amberpet police said Mohammed Amer, a glass-fitting worker, was arrested near Mahaveer Jewellers. Amer along with his friend Salim had resorted to snatching offences in the past several months.

On May 18, 2012 Ahmedabad Mirror reported that a gang comprising youngsters that had been smashing car windows for past one year was busted by the Sector 1 police. Cops recovered a motorcycle and four gearless scooters from them. Interestingly, three of the scooters didn’t have number plates. According to cops, the youths targeted luxury cars like Audi, Pajero, Honda City and Chevrolet. “They did it for the thrill,” cops said. This year, the biker gang broke window panes of 50 luxury cars in 13 incidents.

On May 18, 2012 Times of India reported that an autorickshaw driver was held by the police on Thursday for attacking a family which had come to Kochi from New Delhi as tourists. The arrested was identified as Salahuddin, 28, of Pallilankara, Kalamassery. The accused was along with a group of auto drivers who attacked the family comprising women. The incident occurred when the family was returning to New Delhi from Kochi after spending their vacation in Kerala. It was on May 11 that the family of Prem Malhotra of Rani Bagh, New Delhi, hired three autos to go to the KSRTC bus stand. While two auto drivers demanded Rs. 50 from the family members, the third driver demanded Rs. 80, to which the family members objected.
