On March 02, 2012 Times of India reported that a youth tried to kill the accused in his sister’s murder in broad daylight on Thursday. The attack occurred at a short distance from a police station. While the victim was rushed to a hospital in a critical condition the attacker was overpowered and taken into custody. Rajesh attacked Srinu while the latter was on his way to attend court near II Town police station. The assailant stabbed the victim on the chest and in the abdomen with a knife after chasing him down as Srinu had tried to flee to safety upon seeing Rajesh.

On March 01, 2012 Times of India reported that Directorate of vigilance and anti-corruption (DVAC) sleuths arrested two persons, including a PWD employee, who posed as DVAC officials to extort money from a PWD junior officer. Police have launched a hunt for three more of his associates. Officers said the accused extorted 7.6 lakh from Ravindran, the PW Demployee, over the past six months. Police teams led by deputy superintendent of police S Thirunavukarasu, inspectors M E Ramachandramurthy and Vijay Charles nabbed Radhakrishnan, 40, and Mohan Raj, 54, while accepting 2lakh as bribe.

The accused, a father of 14 kids, has been identified as Dastagir Khan. He allegedly broke into her house in Neelasandra and raped her around 4 pm.

On March 01, 2012 Times of India reported that the principal of a social welfare gurukul was booked on charges of having sexually abused and impregnated a student, at Cheedikada mandal’s Konam village. The girl has been sent to a government hospital for medical tests. A case under SC/ST Atrocities Act and sections 376 (B) and 315 of IPC has been filed against principal Ch Appa Rao. The 15-year-old class X student accused the principal of raping her.

On March 01, 2012 The Pioneer reported that the SP Shivpuri at a Press conference on Wednesday claimed to have solved the case of dacoity and gang-rape case which took place in village Manpura under Bhonti police station in the house of Kailash son of Rajaram Lodhi. All the accused have been arrested and ornaments of gold and silver, mobile phones and weapons were recovered by the police. The police have registered the case under section 395, 397, 376 (2) and section 11/13 of MPBPK Act, informed the SSP.

On March 01, 2012 DNA reported that swinging into action, the Lal Kothi police arrested four people wanted in several cases of fraud on Wednesday. The accused used to advertise in newspapers about their companies claiming to set up mobile towers in the state. The group had formed two companies under the name of Panchmukhi Tower Services and Rajasthan Tower Services and was duping investors for two years. Hitesh Lalwani, along with Ritu Shrivastav, Rajiv Shrivastav, Kamlesh Jangid and Rajendra Sharma, targeted people from Palri Meena village near Agra Road.

On February 29, 2012 Bangalore Mirror reported that travelling to other parts of the country to nab crime suspects is part of the police’s job. In a recent case, the call of duty nearly turned fatal for a team of city policemen which had gone to Assam to nab a robbery suspect. A month ago, an ATM was burgled in Koramangala. Two suspects, Rinku Boshnav (24) and Rabbi Boshnav (25), were nabbed, but the main accused, Ratan Sarkar (23), had by then fled to Assam with an amount of Rs 11.5 lakh. DCP P S Harsha sent a team, led by SI H P Nanjundaiah, and including SI Mirza Ali Raza, head constable Manjunath and police constables Ramachandra and Suresh, to Guwahati on February 19.

On February 29, 2012 Times of India reported that a district court on Tuesday sentenced GH Kattimani, deputy director, pre-university board, and Prakash, first division clerk, to undergo four years rigorous imprisonment in a corruption case. According to Chitradurga Lokayukta, the deputy director had demanded Rs 6,000 from K Nagaraj, a sociology lecturer in a junior college in Kasipura, as bribe to sanction his salary for the days he was absent for duty.
