On April 02, 2012 Times of India reported that a 63-year old migrant labourer from Tamil Nadu was arrested, on Sunday, for raping a five-year-old girl at Kalamassery. Police said the incident occurred on Saturday after the accused, Chandran abducted the girl from the courtyard of her house where she was playing. ?He lured her by offering sweets. We conducted a medical examination on her and confirmed rape. The accused will be produced before the court on Monday,? police said.

On April 02, 2012 Mid-Day reported that accused stole pure oil from tankers headed for Kalyani Industries, would refill them with adulterated oil, water and caustic soda; cops suspect insider’s hand. The Social Security Cell (SSC) of Pune Police yesterday busted an oil adulteration racket and arrested two persons and seized four oil tankers, three cellphones and cash worth Rs 20 lakh. The SSC officials said that the adulteration was being carried on a dumping ground at Moshi in Chakan.

On April 02, 2012 Times of India reported that a team of Naranpura police station officials arrested three men from Rama Pir no Tekro area in Vadaj for assaulting a man and robbing him of cash and mobile phone worth Rs 4,000 last week. Police identified the accused as Tarun Rawat, Rahul Rawat and Dhruv Rawat. The trio was arrested while they were looking for money to buy liquor.

On April 02, 2012 Times of India reported that the Viramgam police investigating gangrape of 14-year-old girl arrested the fourth accused on Sunday. Police have collected biological samples and sent it to the forensic science laboratory (FSL) to gather corroborative evidence. The police claimed that a watertight case has been framed against the four so that they can be punished severely for the crime.

On March 30, 2012 Times of India reported that a special court has sentenced two men, caught transporting 44kg of heroin in 2002, to 10 years rigorous imprisonment. Roshan Khan and Ashok were also fined 1 lakh and 2 lakh by C Chinnappan, principal special judge for cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS), 1985. The prosecution said the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) received a tip-off about heroin being smuggled out of the state on May 17, 2002 and conducted searches across the city. NCB officers spotted a SUV moving at high speed on GST Road near Madurantakam. When they followed the vehicle, its occupants attempted to flee but crashed into an electricity pole.

On March 30, 2012 Times of India reported that KR Shivanand, deputy chief engineer of the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd, was abducted by his cab driver and his three friends on Wednesday night for a ransom of Rs 50 lakh but was rescued within hours by cops in Melkote in Pandavapura taluk of Mandya. The main accused, driver Jayanth Kumar, was arrested but his three accomplices slipped away under the cover of darkness.

The incident occurred at 1.30 pm in Kulkarni Ka Bhatta when a local goon Sunil Basod barged into the house of the victim and allegedly raped her. She was alone in the house at the time of incident.

On March 30, 2012 DNA reported that Narsinghpur police have registered FIR against four persons, including former MLA Jalem Singh and his son Monu Patel, for their alleged involvement in the murder of two Congress workers in Narsinghpur district. Two others booked in the case are Jalam Singh’s brother-in-law Mukesh Patel and Bitthal Rai. All four have been charged under Section 302 of the IPC.

On March 30, 2012 Times of India reported that Central Bureau of Investigation arrested a city businessman at the IGI airport on Thursday for trying to smuggle out an antique idol to Hong Kong. It’s a 16th century sandstone idol depicting Lord Shiva and Parvati. The accused, Manish, owns a garments business in Pandavnagar. CBI spokesperson Dharini Mishra said he had been trying to ship out the antique item along with marble tiles against forged documents.
