On February 03, 2012 Times of India reported that one more accused in the 2008 Bangalore serial blasts has been taken into custody. Saleem, 30, is a close associate of Tadiyandavide Nasir and stayed in Kannur, Kerala. Nasir is the prime accused in the nine blasts that killed a woman and injured many in July 2008. He is also the South Indian commander of the Indian Mujahideen.

On January 25, 2012 Hindustan Times reported that Malda police arrested a Maoist squad member from Kokra village under Harishchandrapur police station on Monday night. Police have seized Maoists literature from his possession. Police sources said that one Mohammad Khalek (28), a resident of Dubrajpur of Birbhum district, was involved with the Maoists organisation for a long time. A few years ago he went to Jangalmahal and got firearms training from ‘Aakash’.

On January 25, 2012 Hindustan Times reported that notching up a major success against Naxal rebels, Odisha Police on Tuesday arrested top Maoists leader and CPI(Maoist)’s Odisha state committee member, Girish, from Bargarh district, about 370 km west of Bhubaneswar. Bargarh district’s superintendent of police (SP), SP Kavita Jalan, said that Girish, 45, was arrested in the morning along with another Maoist following reliable inputs regarding their movement in an area within Attabira police station limits.

On January 18, 2012 The Pioneer reported that in a joint operation conducted by Angul CRPF personnel and Keonjhar police, two CPI (Maoist) cadres were arrested and forwarded to court at Keonjhar on Tuesday. The accused persons were identified as Jorge Kamal (45), son of late Suleman Kamal, and Hanuk Jiban Hans (23), son of Habil Hans, of village Baudihi in Angul district. They were arrested from the Pauri Reserve Forest on the Keonjhar-Angul district border.

On January 03, 2012 DNA reported that a 50-year-old man was taken into custody by the Old Airport police over suspected links with terror groups. The deputy commissioner of police (South-East) PS Harsha said a person has been arrested for suspicious behaviour and efforts are on to ascertain his true identity. Police sources said he was taken into custody on Saturday night after army personnel found him at the HAL airport. He was wearing an army uniform and had a fake ID card and other supporting documents.
