Chennai: Five members of a family in trouble for selling temple property
On March 09, 2012 Times of India reported that five members of a family, including three women, were arrested on Thursday for preparing fake documents to grab a building in Chennai’s Kothwalchavadi area that belongs to a Tiruttani temple and selling it to an Andhra Pradesh-based businessman. The arrested were later remanded in judicial custody. The incident came to light when authorities of the Subramania Swamy temple went to collect rent from tenants in the 2,520 sq ft building on Arumugam Street and were threatened by twins Nethaji and Nehruji, who claimed they own edit along with their three sisters as per the settlement deed and that they had sold it to a man named Tarakam for 32 lakh in October 2011.
