On April 16, 2012 Bangalore Mirror reported that Byatarayanpura police have seized 400-year-old multi-alloy idols and other stolen articles from two persons who planned to sell them in Mumbai. The items include idols of Nataraja, Shakti Ganapathi and Buddha. They said that Girish, 28, and Deepak alias Somashekara, 28, had brought the items from neighbouring Tamil Nadu. They had hired an auto to the railway station, but were arrested on reaching there. The duo are residents of Timber Yard Layout.
On April 13, 2012 Mid-Day reported that a 25-year-old youth was arrested for raping and beating his teenaged domestic help in the capital’s Jamia Nagar, police said. Nadeem was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly raping and physically assaulting the girl for two years. Police said the girl, who is from Bihar, was raped for the first time by her employers’ son Nadeem two years back. Nadeem’s parents apparently did not stay with them and he had been beating and sexually assaulting her in their absence.
On April 13, 2012 Pune Mirror reported that five passengers aboard the Pune-Patna Express were injured after a gang of robbers from Daund attacked them and looted their cash and valuables on Wednesday night. The incident took place between Hadapsar and Boripardhi village in Daund taluka around 10.30 pm. The injured have been identified as Harihar Tiwari of Madhya Pradesh, Shakil Shaikh of Bihar, Papu Roy and Shriram Bharti both from Uttar Pradesh.

Justice Sandeep Mehta rejected the bail plea of Singh, who was booked under Sections 302 and 201 of IPC. This was the first reported case in which the father was arrested for killing his daughter, though NGOs and local reports suggest that the practice was rampant among a few communities in the region.

Suraj Ravi Bhat, a student of Pathak High School and Junior College, Santacruz (East) and a resident of Sunderbaug Kurla Kamani, also sent lewd text messages to the girl after their friendship went sour. According to the police, Bhat befriended the 21-year-old victim when she lived near his house. She later shifted to Badlapur. The girl is a student at a Dadar based college, and the two would meet often.
