On May 22, 2012 Times of India reported that a truck driver was arrested on charges of attempt to murder on Sunday after he shot a former colleague in the right shoulder, allegedly due to previous enmity. Police said Isaac Sam, a native of Kerala and resident of Papanchatram, and George were colleagues at a transport company on the Chennai-Bangalore highway before Sam left to join a firm in Virugambakkam and began transporting Hyundai cars from the factory to the harbour. George was a resident of Tandalam.

On May 22, 2012 Times of India reported that as a part of the drive against IPL betting gangs in the city, Task Force sleuths arrested a 19-year-old organizer from Malakpet on Sunday night. Acting on a tip-off, a Task Force team laid a trap for Asghar bin Ali and caught him red-handed while he was accepting Rs.10,500 bet from a punter in Old Malakpet on Sunday night. The arrested person along with the seized cash was handed over to the Chaderghat police.
On May 22, 2012 Times of India reported that Task Force sleuths on Monday arrested a con artist who tried to dupe Tollywood producers Chillar Kalyan and Singanamala Ramesh by posing as an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer. Police arrested K Venkata Ratna Reddy, 36, a resident of Nehru Nagar in Guntur. Acting on a complaint lodged by Kalyan two days ago, a Task Force team began tracking the movements of Reddy and nabbed him when he was waiting for a friend on Road Number 14, Banjara Hills, on Monday morning. Introducing himself as additional commissioner, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Ratna Reddy made a phone call to Kalyan on May 11.

Tulip Singh alias Poornima Singh, considered the Katrina Kaif of Bhojpuri films, and her producer friend Raman Srived Nayyar, cheated C G Road-based K K Jewellers to the tune of Rs. 2.5 crore, as per a complaint lodged by the jewellery showroom owner with Crime Branch. While Crime Branch has arrested Nayyar of Jalaram Productions, Tulip Singh is on the run.
