On May 02, 2012 DNA reported that the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB), Ahmedabad, on Tuesday, nabbed Mohammad Hussain alias Mohammad Tempo Sheikh (41), a history-sheeter and resident of Behrampura, who has more than 22 cases to his name. He is also wanted in a case. Interestingly, Tempo, who has acted as a villain in a Gujarati film 'Matha Bhare (rowdy)', was a villain in real life too, threatening and intimidating people.

On May 02, 2012 DNA reported that a sessions court on Tuesday sent one person to two years imprisonment for selling land on forged documents. The accused Mushtaq Beig, a resident of Iliyas Colony, had sold 18,000 sq ft land to petitioner Abdul Rashid Khan of Khajrana. Beig had used forged documents to show that the land was his and had completed the sale from August 18, 1998 to November 21, 1998. Later, the appellant found out that the original land owner was not Beig but one Ramgopal Hakimchand. A complaint was filed with Khajrana police and a case was presented before lower court, in which Beig was held guilty and sentenced to two -years imprisonment and fine of `2000.

On May 02, 2012 The Pioneer reported that a 20-year-old youth who was involved in more than 25 cases of robbery as a juvenile and is allegedly the leader of the infamous ‘burgle and burn’ gang, has been arrested by the Crime Branch. With his arrest, police have solved five cases of robbery in Sarojini Nagar area in the recent past. The accused, identified as Sanjay, has been arrested along with two of his associates from Central Delhi on Sunday.

On May 02, 2012 Mumbai Mirror reported that an octroi evasion scam worth crores of rupees was unearthed by the Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of Mumbai Police with the arrests of ten octroi agents after an in-depth investigation on Tuesday. EOW sources added that the agents' arrests were just the tip of the iceberg, and that the extent of the scam indicated the involvement of BMC staff. On Monday, the EOW arrested seven octroi agents: Umesh Rawal, 40, Sunil Pawar, 42, Vijay Malgaonkar, 38, Mandar Bhosle, 40, Mayank Sundrani, 25, Ajay Thakkar, 42 and Satish Shetty, 38. A local court remanded them to EOW custody till May 6. On Tuesday, 3 more agents – Rohit Gaekwad, Rupesh Shinde and Sandeep Jagtap were arrested and be produced in court on Wednesday.

On May 02, 2012 Times of India reported that in a case of suspected honour killing, a girl was allegedly killed by her father after he came to know that she was having an affair with a youth from the neighbourhood at Gedelalanka village in Mummidivaram mandal in the late hours of Monday. The incident came to light on Tuesday. The police took the accused father into custody and sent the girl’s body for an autopsy. The victim was the youngest and the only female among his four siblings.

On May 02, 2012 Times of India reported that a doctor has lodged a complaint against a family member of city MLA Vishnuvardhan Reddy for allegedly assaulting his father, who also happens to be a doctor at a private hospital in Sanathnagar. The accused, Ramchander Reddy, is the brother-in-law of Vishnu Vardhan Reddy. According to the complainant, Mohammed Zubair, on Sunday night, Reddy barged into his private hospital in Sanathnagar where his father Mohammed Osman works as a doctor.

On May 02, 2012 Times of India reported that a 55-year-old man died while being taken to hospital on Monday night, hours after being beaten up by his son apparently for refusing to give his ATM card to pay for a drink. The police said Satish, 26, who lives on Canal Bank Road in Adyar, asked his father Elangovan for his ATM card on Monday. “Elangovan, a sweeper in a bank, refused to give him his card because Satish was in the habit of splurging even though he did not have a job,” a police officer said. “Satish beat up his father and left in a huff.”
