Pune: Police claims to solve eight dacoities

On February 22, 2012 DNA reported that the Pune rural police on Tuesday claimed to have solved eight dacoities after arresting a gang of seven members of family which targeted senior citizens living in isolated area, forced entry inside their houses, beat them up and decamped with their valuables. Superintendent of police (Pune rural) Shahaji Solunke identified the arrested gang members as Popat Ramdas Kale (20), Sagar Vare (19), his brother Bhau (20), Bhau Vasant Kale (40), Santosh Nirutu Kedar (20), Amol Ananta Bhutare (21) and his elder brother Vitthol (22). Popat was described as the mastermind.
