Shaukat was wanted since December 20, 2011. According to crime branch officials, Shaukat (45) a resident of Pollen Bazaar, Godhra, was awarded life imprisonment and was serving his term at the Vadodara central jail. He was given interim bail on the basis of an order by the Gujarat high court on December 13, so that he could attend his daughter’s wedding. He gave a guarantee that he would return on December 20.
