Bangalore: Man dupes friend of lakhs over job promise
On February 20, 2012 Bangalore Mirror reported that a city-based software engineer, who dreamt of making a fortune in Germany, is in the soup after a close friend took him for a ride. The accused, Chandu Singh, had been cheating him for four years by promising to get him a job in Germany. He had created a fake character of a consultant named Srinivas Murthy in Germany, sent mails in his name to his friend and made him believe that they came from Canada, the Netherlands, Germany and Australia. He used seven accounts in different banks to which the victim was made to transfer Rs 8.88 lakh at various times. The victim got a shock of his life on finding out that all the mails had been sent from his friend’s computer in Bangalore. Singh is also a software engineer.
