On December 23, 2011 DNA reported that an event organiser was allegedly killed by his friend over a financial dispute, in the city on Wednesday night. The deceased, Ramu, 33, was a resident of Katriguppe and son of a BBMP engineer. DCP (south) Sonia Narang said the police learnt about the incident when JP Nagar police received a memo from Apollo Hospital, where Ramu succumbed to injuries. The police said Ramu was admitted to the hospital at 1.15pm on Wednesday; he succumbed about 10.30pm. Preliminary investigation revealed that his friend Sujith, a resident of Brundavananagar near Hulimavu, had assaulted him for not returning the money he had borrowed.
