Mandya: Proclaimed offender arrested after 28 yrs
On December 22, 2011 Times of India reported that Nearly three decades after a burglary, district police achieved a breakthrough in a house break-in case reported in 1983, by arresting a proclaimed offender. Police are now on the lookout for three of his accomplices, who are still at large. The arrest of Kempa aka Nagaraj, 69, of Tumkur, has exposed lapses on the part of Mandya district police. In the early 1980s, Kempa was arrested in a murder case in Mandya and convicted for the crime. He underwent a jail term and was released in 2004. But the district police were not aware of his alleged involvement in the theft case reported in their jurisdiction. Police continued to search for him.
