Pune: Police claims to solve Mahalaxmi temple theft

On December 15, 2011 Times of India reported that following the arrest of a 21-year-old youth, the Swargate police on Wednesday claimed to have solved the theft that took place at the Mahalaxmi temple near Sarasbaug on December 3. The suspect has been identified as Babul Shahjahan Shaikh of Budhwar Peth who hails from West Bengal. The police have recovered Rs 1,100 from Shaikh. Acting on a tip-off, a police team, led by senior police inspector of the Swargate police station Ram Pathare, laid a trap near Sarasbaug and arrested Shaikh.
