Hyderabad: Police launch manhunt for accused in extortion case
n December 05, 2011 Times of India reported that the city police have launched a manhunt for Mohammed Abdur Rauf, who was tried and acquitted in Haren Pandya murder case, following a cheating and extortion case registered against him. “We are on the lookout for Rauf and his associates. They are involved in cases of extortion and illegally settling civil disputes,” a police officer said. Rauf, a resident of Saidabad, was acquitted by the Gujarat High Court in the Haren Pandya murder case along with some other persons from Nalgonda and Hyderabad. According to the Afzalgunj detective sub-inspector Narsing Rao, Rauf and his henchmen Azeem, Miskeen and Jafar allegedly threatened Mahender Singh Bagga who runs Chaman Auto Finance in Gowliguda. Acting on a complaint, the police arrested Azeem on Saturday. He was sent to judicial remand.
