On November 14, 2011 Times of India reported that the CBI may take its investigations into the Jnaneswari Express accident case further with the prime accused Asit Mahato - who was carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh – being arrested from Gorneta village in West Midnapore district. Acting on the basis of information provided by five Maoists arrested from Salboni in West Midnapore district on Saturday, the joint forces arrested Mahato from an abandoned house at Gorneta village on Sunday morning. CBI spokesperson Dharini Mishra confirmed his arrest. The CBI will now take his custody and interrogate him.
