On September 26, 2011 The Pioneer reported that Patiala police claimed to have achieved a major success in its ongoing operation against the narcotics with the recovery of seven kilogram of opium and the arrest of three smugglers belonged to Rajasthan. Senior superintendent of police (SSP), Gurpreet Singh Gill told The Pioneer that on a tip off, a special police naka near village Mashingun was laid, where during a checking of Tata Indica car, police recovered seven kilogram of opium.
