On August 29, 2011 The Pioneer reported that the Town police on Sunday arrested the main accused, Hemanta Majhi, in connection with the murder of Debendra Senapati (36), who was bludgeoned to death with an iron rod on August 21 in front of the Chakadola Club near the Jagannath Temple. The deceased’s elder brother Surendra Senapati had alleged that a group of people were involved in the incident and demanded through investigations should be carried out by the police.
