On August 10, 2011 The Pioneer reported that the Kandhamal police on Monday arrested five persons of Matikera village in connection with the brutal murder of two persons in the Srirampur area of Kotagarh block on August 4 and claimed to have seized five tiffin bombs, two packs of medicine, explosives, some rubber stamps, Maoist posters and red clothes after conducting raid on their houses. Kandhmal SP JN Pankaj told reporters here that immediately after the murders the families of the deceased had lodged complaints with the police in which they had mentioned the name of some Maoists.
