On August 31, 2011 Hindustan Times reported that a 26-year-yearold woman was stabbed to death by her husband on the eve of Eid-ul-fitr in Jaitpur area in South Delhi. Police have arrested the accused named Kafil (30).

The Vartak Nagar police arrested 24-year-old Siddhesh Dalvi for allegedly killing his wife and then misleading the police by portraying it as a suicide. Though the cops had their suspicion, they had taken down a case of accidental death but reserved their opinion for the postmortem report.
On August 31, 2011 Mid-Dayreported that a four-year-old Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan student was molested by the school's security guard on Monday morning. A senior police official said the accused was arrested, after the victim's parents approached the police. An FIR under Section 354 (molestation) of IPC was lodged at Tilak Marg police station. "The accused, identified as Virender Singh, a native of Madhubani in Bihar, had been working at the school for the last six months. He was remanded to 14-day judicial custody," said the official.
On August 31, 2011 The Pioneer reported that two adolescent women Maoists on Tuesday surrendered before the Koraput police alleging ‘torture’ by the senior cadres of the party. They were Jambu Nachika (18) and Tarai Mandangi (16) who belonged to the Koraput-Srikakulam division and were looking after the Jana Natya Dal. Producing the duo before the media, SW Range DIG Soumendra Priyadarshi said Jambu Nachika belonged to Taladekapadar of Narayan Patna block while Tarai Mandangi belonged to Turuguda village in Bandhugaon block. Jambu joined the Dal three years ago and was involved in the murder case of one Sikunu Melaka of Tentulipadar village. Tarai had joined the Dal just three months back, said Priyadarshi.
On August 31, 2011 The Pioneer reported that four fugitive members of a racket, who were on the run after looting properties from the house of a renowned businessman of Chennai, were nabbed on Monday night here in Balasore. The looters, who fled Chennai after looting the family of properties including gold and diamond ornaments and cash worth about `50,000,00 were taken to custody by the special police wing of Tamil Nadu with the assistance of the local police. While three of them were nabbed at about 11.30 pm from a lodge near Balasore railway station, the fourth one was apprehended late in the night.
On August 31, 2011 Mumbai Mirror reported that in the second week of August, when the country was agitating against corruption, filmmaker Rakesh Roshan visited the CBI office at Colaba, complaining of harassment from an agency officer. He told CBI Joint Director Rishiraj Singh that one of his SPs was demanding money to settle a case. Infuriated, Singh asked Roshan to name the officer so that action could be taken. However, when Roshan revealed his identity along with details of how he paid Rs 50 lakh as bribe, it was found there was no such CBI officer, nor was any case against Roshan being investigated.
On August 31, 2011 Times of India reported that Task Force sleuths nabbed managing director of an international multi-level marketing (MLM) firm, who duped over two lakh people to the tune of Rs 347 crore, from his flat in Kondapur on Tuesday . Acting on an alert from the Kerala police, a Task Force team raided Satya Sai Apartment in Kondapur and arrested Harish Babu Maddeneni, 41, managing director of Nano Excel Corporation Limited. Harish, who studied medicine in Russia, decided to make some quick money and set up Nano Excel Corporation Ltd in 2007. As per the claims of the accused, the company markets 11 imported ‘Nano Technology’ products through their distributors and franchises.
On August 31, 2011 Times of India reported that a 39-year-old man, who allegedly smothered his wife to death with a pillow on Monday night, is struggling for life in a private hospital on Mysore Road, following stab injuries in his stomach. Police suspect the man, Rama alias Kodandarama, may have consumed poison and tried to end his life by stabbing himself. Police said Rama, who stays in a rented house in Challaghatta in Bidadi, Ramanagaram district, was found by his neighbours with stab wounds on his stomach. “He was bleeding profusely and the neighbours shifted him to hospital and informed police. Police arrived and found his wife Anitha lying dead,” said an officer.
On August 31, 2011 Times of India reported that Sampigehalli police on Monday caught two men for allegedly making and using fake credit cards. Jaikumar alias Shyamvel alias Shyam, 39, of Kengeri Main Road and Wasim alias Wasim Pasha, 25, residing near Vinayaka theatre on Mysore Road, were arrested after complaints from some victims. Investigation revealed that they had accessed credit card details of several people through internet and made fake credit cards. To create duplicate cards, they had all the electronic gadgets with them which were also seized.
