Sangrur: Man nabbed with drugs worth Rs. 12.5 lakh

On April 22, 2011 Hindustan Times reported that the district police have seized 10-kg opium worth about Rs.10 lakh and poppy husk weighing around 2.50 quintals worth about Rs.2.5 lakh in two separate incidents on Thursday. Senior superintendent of police Harcharan Singh Bhullar said at a `naka’ near Chhahar village, the Chhajli police signalled a truck (RJ-19G-5909) to stop. On seeing police, three persons sitting in luggage cabin of the truck fled, while the police overpowered driver Biru Singh alias Satgur Singh of nearby Jakhepal village.
