Ahmedabad: 31 convicted for criminal conspiracy

On February 23, 2011 Ahmedabad Mirror reported that a special court in Ahmedabad on Tuesday convicted 31 people of criminal conspiracy and acquitted 63 people, including prime accused Maulana Hussain Umarji, in the 2002 Godhra train burning case. The quantum of sentence will be announced at 11.45 am on Friday. Forty-three of the 63 acquitted breathed the air outside the Sabarmati Central Jail after nine years. Free at last, they boarded a bus and left for Dahod with police escort at 7.40 pm.
