Pune: Youth booked for assaulting a Police Constable

On September 20, 2010 the Times of India reported that a police constable attached to the Bhosari police station, who was on duty at Gulve Vasti in Bhosari to control a rioting mob, was severely beaten up by 15 to 20 people on Saturday around 9.30 pm. Following the incident, a large number of policemen were deployed at the site. Constable Swapnil Bartakke, who sustained severe injuries on his hand, is undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Bhosari. The police have arrested Dhananjay Vishwakarma (22) of Gulve Vasti on the charges of attempt to murder and rioting.
