A student of Acharya Institute of Technology sustained minor injuries when a dacoit opened fire to threaten him on Tuesday night at Navya Layout in Peenya police station limits. 

 A gang of around 12 dacoits knocked on a house at Navya Layout, where Ankith Kumar (21) and his classmate Pranav, both from Uttar Pradesh, were staying. The dacoits barged in sideand threatened the duo before forcing them to part with two laptops, three cellphones and Rs 500. One of the dacoits brandished a country-made pistol to threaten the duo. He accidentally pressed the trigger, and a bullet partially brushed Ankith’s waist before hitting the wall. The dacoits fled immediately. They were conversing in Kannada and were aged between 25 and 30, police added.
